IMF Official Calls Japan FX Intervention Understandable

The International Monetary Fund is sympathetic to Japan’s views on the need for foreign exchange intervention to smooth out sharp market moves, a senior fund official said, presenting a view that could encourage authorities to again weigh in to stop the yen’s latest resurgence.
