Steel Imports into U.S. Surge

For some domestic steel buyers, it is now
cheaper to purchase steel from China than from Pittsburgh.The reason: a
near-record spread between the prices for almost all kinds of steel in the U.S.
and steel prices everywhere else. The widening spread, attributed to global
oversupply and strong demand from car makers, has sparked a surge of imports,
which are expected to reach 3.2 million tons in January, up 23% from 2.6 million
tons in the same month a year earlier.

對美國國內一些鋼材進(jìn)口商而言，現在從中國購買(mǎi)鋼材要比從匹茲堡購買(mǎi)更便宜。原因在于：各種鋼材在美國和其他任何市場(chǎng)的差價(jià)都接近紀錄高位。全球供應過(guò)剩和汽車(chē)生產(chǎn)商需求強勁造成鋼材差價(jià)擴大，刺激了美國的鋼材進(jìn)口，預計1月份美國鋼材進(jìn)口量將達到320萬(wàn)噸，較上年同期的260萬(wàn)噸增加23%。
